Watch: SLF Vice President of Litigation joins Wilkow! to discuss lawsuit over discriminatory USDA relief programs

(April 10, 2024): Southeastern Legal Foundation (SLF) Vice President of Litigation Braden Boucek joins Wilkow! to discuss the latest lawsuit brought by SLF and Mountain States Legal Foundation (MSLF) on behalf of Texas farmers. The farmers are suing the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) under the Biden Administration for unlawfully and unconstitutionally doling out more disaster relief funds to farmers who are women or of a certain race than to farmers who are male or white.

The Texas farmers have been hit hard by natural disasters over the years, so Congress allocated $25 billion in emergency relief funds to help them and other farmers across the country. But without any authorization from Congress, USDA decided to give more money to farmers of its preferred races and sex and less money to the Texas farmers represented by SLF and MSLF.

The farmers are suing USDA for violating the Fifth Amendment Equal Protection Clause and the Administrative Procedure Act. SLF and MSLF are representing these farmers free of charge.
