College Speech: GA House Takes Up Student Speech Protection Measures
ATLANTA, GA: Following its testimony before the Georgia Senate regarding Senate Bill 318, Southeastern Legal Foundation also testified before the Georgia House of Representatives about the House version of the FORUM Act, known as HB 995. Like the Senate bill, HB 995 seeks to eliminate free speech zones in public areas to promote robust debate on college campuses. The law would limit the authority of college administrators by ensuring that students can engage in spontaneous speech activities. And, like SB 318, this law demands greater accountability from Georgia colleges through the judicial process. SLF testimony can be found here.
